We need to carry out investigations to identify any unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in certain areas of the Longfield site. These areas have been identified by a previous desk-based assessment we undertook to confirm areas of potential interest.
These surveys will be carried out by a magnetometer – which works in a similar way to a metal detector – scanning the ground and measuring magnetic fields to identify buried objects, but at a greater depth.
This assessment is carried out on most projects on a precautionary basis, and while there is a low risk of UXOs within our site, we are carrying out further investigations where our previous desk-based study showed some areas where the presence of UXOs could not be ruled out.
Should we identify any potential UXOs in the data collected by the magnetometer, we will then carry out further investigations and remove these.
